Trip West: Canyonlands to Grand Canyon

On our way to the Grand Canyon we spent the day at Canyonlands. The above picture is from a hike into Elephant Hills.

Scott the mountain climber.

More pictures of Elephant Hill.

The girls enjoyed the hike. Kara did most of it on her own. They especially liked following the rock piles (lower left) used to designate the trail.

We made it to the end of the trail. In the background are the famous Needles known for their beautiful views and climbing.
Good thing the rocks did not cave in while we were there.

Kara resting on the drive to Grand Canyon.

On our way we made a quick trip to Monument Valley on the Navajo Reservation.
What a beautiful sunset.

We finally made it to the Grand Canyon. We stayed in an old lodge and enjoyed the view.

Scott took the girls down a little bit of The Bright Angel Trail before it got icy.

We enjoyed the Grand Canyon and the girls thought the view was fabulous.

On our way back to Kansas we stopped for the night again in Moab, UT. We camped overnight and visited one area, the double arches, before heading home.
The girls enjoying our hike.
One more picture by their favorite stone piles marking the path.
