Our Trip to Buena Vista, VA

After my parents arrived on Saturday, we headed for Buena Vista where my aunt lives. My Grandmother was visiting from West Virginia so we got a chance to also visit her. We hung out, ate lots of good food, and enjoyed each other's company. Rebekah had a chance to play with my cousin's boys ages 8, 5, and 3. On our way to Buena Vista, we got off the interstate and onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. We enjoyed the ride and stopped at "Humpback Rocks" farm. They were setting up to play some old-fashioned bluegrass and there were chickens there which the girls loved.

We had a chance to visit the Lee Memorial Chapel at Washington and Lee University. We saw where Robert E. Lee was buried along with his family and horse. We drove briefly around VMI and saw where "Stonewall" Jackson was buried. He loved lemonade (a little tidbit of knowledge I learned from all my readings about the Civil War) and there were lemons scattered around his statue. It was kind of neat. Kara liked to help "Papa" push the cart of luggage - as you can see in the picture - when we were leaving the hotel.
