Our Camping Trip

This past week Scott took a couple of days off and we headed to Sherando Lake for some camping. It is located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Scott's parents joined us for the fun. It was cold at times (45 degrees) but we stayed warm in our tent at night and busy during the day. The weather forecast called for rain all day Friday but fortunately it only rained for about 15 minutes.

We ate lots of good food... venison stew, apple crisp, chicken wild rice soup, pancakes, etc. During the day we hiked around the lake and played in the sand. Of course Kara actually went into the water getting her shoes and socks wet but she did not seem to mind. The girls enjoyed exploring the woods around our campground and playing in the dirt with their buckets and shovels. I brought easter eggs to hide and they enjoyed finding them in the woods.

At one point Kara grabbed her easter egg basket, looked at us, said "bye-bye" and took off through the woods. Who knows what was on her mind but it was really funny. Rebekah enjoyed being with Nana and Papa who brought their camper so both girls thought it was fun to play inside.
On our last day we walked around the lake and Kara fell asleep in Scott's eyes. That has never happened before but she was so tired she then slept in the car for over three hours on our drive home. When we got home we asked them what was their favorite part and they both agreed that Nana and Papa's "house" (camper) was the best.
